I pose this question in the past, present and future tense. Did, are, or will you live up to the expectations set by your parents? A better question might be if you did, are or will achieve the same level of success as that of your immediate family?

Often Parents, Grandparents and even older siblings will let you know, sometimes in no uncertain terms, what they expect of you, so my question is...how is or has your life turned out in comparison to what was expected of you or in comparison to the level of success that members of your immediate family achieved?

I have met or exceeded their expectations
I missed all expectations
I set my own goals and didn't compare myself to anyone
I expect to meet their future expecations for me
I'm not sure

Since I wasn't expected to live this long/survive I guess you could say I met or exceeded expectations. I don't pay attention to what others expect though.

For the most part, this is how it is. But sometimes I think about trying to accomplish what my Grandparents have or my parents, and it seems very daunting. Though to be honest, they don't really pressure us. But, if I could be as successful as say, my Grandfather, that would be amazing.
