Not my kid though. She's moving to an apartment on campus within the next week. She's a very independent soul and just wants to do her own thing...

Various reasons I'm sure. My parents let us stay as long as we were either working or going to school. I left at 21 and could have stayed longer, but I was tired of their rules and wanted out on my own. By then I was well prepared. A friend of mine is 37 and still living with her mom. She claims it's because she hates to be away from her mom (who's both widowed and divorced) and they're real close. I can understand that, but shit. This poor woman has raised 5 kids and at least that many grandkids. All under her roof pretty much. If they'd move out and give the woman a break, she'd probably have the time of her life.
ABC, it's partly culture, with Asians and Greeks, we usually stay at home so in order to save money. We usually don't move out until marriage. I can see the advantage. But the disadvantage is the rules to put up. RWS, you're daughter is very lucky. Adopt me? Oh, and also, I should point out that with the job market, younger people are having a harder time finding jobs, so they stay at home longer.

^aya, I'm not paying for her apartment. I told my daughter that she could stay here with me while she finished college, but she's anxious to live on campus, so she took out a school loan to be able to move out. Brat! lol
