Happy early b-day to her, on my behalf! And I wouldn't turn down a gift like that, were either of my parents to offer it to me. That way, if she really wants something for herself, she'll have the money to buy it for herself. Saves you a lot of guessing.

It does sound like a typical "Dad gift". When Christmas or birthdays roll around, mine always gives me either power tools or money. He knows I can put either one to good use.
