OLD SCHOOL GROCERY SHOPPING...

[+] ballot by ABC
ACTIVE Sat Aug 11, 07 - Sun Aug 10, 08

Since i have buying groceries, i have been buying them at chain stores, boxed crap, imported vegetables (in this country they are imported from the south 7 months of the year)

Now that I dont work as much i take more time to buy local food, i have the egg man bring fresh farm eggs every 2 weeks, i go to this old german butcher to get meat, i go to a bakery to get my bread (it lasts 2x longer) i get vegetables from my garder and from farmers markets, it costs the same but takes more time

is it worth the time to support the local economy and get better quality food?

What a wonderful idea. If you are in a place where this is possible, this is the thing to do.

Yep. It's more healthy in the long run also.

Fresh eggs are fantastic. They taste so much better too.

I'd like whoever votes no to please comment and tell who they are :waves:
From what I've seen here I know there are a few youngsters who think it's fantastic for our food to all be factory farmed, packaged and shipped across the world.

But I don't know if this would work, from a financial standpoint. When I moved to Atlanta back in '86, I got milk for my family from a local dairy, packaged daily. The dairy was run out of business ten years ago by a big local dairy producer that claims to be "farm-fresh". I've been past the factory. I'd love to have all-natural food.
