Yeah, guess it's probably like that around the globe, although I don't have the stats , but even here in Elmira, the poorest of poor live near the city dump/landfills, housing projects built along the river in areas first to flood , factories built in areas only the poor live, even my former high school, while the children of Doctors and lawyers attend school in the most scenic area of the city, those less fortunate go to a school that was literally built on the site of an old factory , years later, higher rates of cancer for those students prompted the environmental protection agency to investigate after many many complaints from parents, they found higher levels of contaminants the factory left behind. Life sucks for the poor, that's for sure, but hey, we can't complain, life much tougher in places like Darfur.
^That last part was sarcasm
BECAUSE WE DO NEED TO COMPLAIN, SHOUT it every chance we can, just because life is much tougher in other parts of the world does not mean we shouldn't let it be known what's gong on here or with the natives in Canada that you speak of aya.
It's poverty. A thing which can strike anyone, regardless of race. Minorities seem to be especially prone, especially when surrounded by negative people.
Voted : no
Not personally. But it's still a crime for the ages, what we insist on doing to our planet. (leaving Jyl and mojo boxes of tissues, for when they see this ballot)
countragrain, yes, but I read that Black people, regardless of affluence, are STILL more likely to live in areas of contaminated fish, etc. What really shocked me was the condition of babies born without brains.

If rich people had to live in those areas, they'd be clean and safe. Society should do something.
aya, I concede that the lead and mercury (and other contaminant) poisoning WILL cause people to be born brain damaged. As far as without brains altogether, I can't speak to that. I've never even heard of such a thing. That would indeed be a serious impairment. NO ONE should have to go through that kind of torture. Of course, they wouldn't feel it; but, their family would find it difficult to lay them to rest. Write your legislators. Become an activist. Send me information, and I will spread a similar petition through my district here in the states. It is awful, I'll give you that.
