I was in a car with my family traveling down I-5 from Los Angeles to San Diego when my parents heard the news on the radio. They were in shock.
Voted : Playing with my dog in front of a fan
I had a dog named Max who liked sitting in front of this big box fan we had. I was sitting on the floor playing with him when the news came on tv.

Oh, you mean the exact moment I got the news? Hell, I don't know. But, rumour has it, the "King" was on the throne, full of Percodan. I remember my auntie (by marriage) was all to' up. She was from Tupelo, MS also.
I met his step-brother in the mid-80s. He (the stepbrother) was an evangelist at the time, and I went to hear him solely out of curiosity and the fact it was Elvis' step-brother. As I remember, the message wasn't so stellar. Anyway, can you believe that some of the people were so insensitive afterword that when we lined up and shook the "preacher's" hand some folks said (of Elvis) things like, "I never really liked him very much" and "I liked his music; but, I never really had much admiration for the man?" etc. etc. It was as if they completely ignored the fact that they were talking to a family member. And the guy did share in his lil' speech how much he loved his "brother." Geez, how uncouth can you get? He was a family member of the deceased person referenced, for God's sake!

My mother, knowing that I was a fan, woke me at five-thirty on that morning to tell me. Oddly enough, in the dream I was awakened from, one of his songs, "Little Sheba" from "Viva Las Vegas", if memory serves, was playing as background music. contra, humanity at its finest, once again. :P
I was on Interstate 35. Iwas on my way to Southbend for Freshman orientation at ND.
I had my wisdom teeth taken out that day.
