My friend Mark has been doing it for years. He calls them Mattey (for Matt) and Hel for (Helen). I don't think they liked it, but they must have become used to it, because he still does it.

My Insane Sister. I don't think she's ever called our mother "Mom".

I always called my father Jack. I think I picked it up from hearing his friends call him that. I call my mom mom though.
Yeah, my two and a half year old son. He does it more when he's out with me and friends. Not so much when his mum's around. Mainly cos she says,'it's daddy', I don't mind though, I just let him get on with it.

Yes, my sister in law calls her mother and father by their first names. When I was in school, I had a friend who decided that everyone was equal and no one was deserving of any less respect and so one day she decided to start calling my mom and dad by their first names. The first time she did that, they looked at her like "what the hell is wrong with you?" She's got a point about the respect and the equality, but in my eyes, what she was doing was very disrespectful. There's a certain 'chain of respect' and someone's parents are usually way above some 17 year old with a rebellious attitude.
