Talking to people on line, chatrooms and such, many say they are from “ Ind.” When I say the country of India or the state of Indiana, they get all hostile, saying you Americans’ think it’s all about you. No, I don’t, it could apply to either, or, what’s the big deal?

When somone reacts that way they're being overly sensitive. Your question is valid and they're reply is not. Indiana is a real place, so maybe it's them who think that it's all about them. At least in my opinion that is. :)

They are just used to hearing all the anti-America spiel in their country. Just because they say it doesn't make it true. I see the country-centric stuff here with things like British views of their supposed military superiority and Americans the same. Of course the other guy is sh*t and thinks its all about them and vice versa. The "conversations" you speak of really aren't that at all. Its regurgitated propaganda no matter what side.

What patch and Truth said. You're not the one being egocentric.

Beside's, the whole thing wouldn't have happened if they'd have taken the extra second to add the I and the A to the rest of the word. There's something to be said for people too lazy to type two additional letters and then egodriven enough to assume that the place they're from is the only one on earth that starts with "Ind".
