Voted : White Men
Followed by White women married to White men. There wasn't a lot of "trickle-down" in those days...
Voted : Robber barons
Back in The Gilded Age.
Voted : White Men
Not even all white men. Rich white ones not poor ones. Certainly not poor slobs like people portrayed in "The Honeymooners". If they had a half a chicken every two weeks, they would consider themsleves lucky.
Intersting lyrics...girls wewe girls and men were men. No mention of WOMEN.
I’m thinking with no social safety nets, a lot of people suffered, must have been terrible for gays , females and minorities. I think that there were quite a few social safety nets at that time. Although you are right that minorities, including gays weren't all that fond of those times. but doesn't that mean that things are much better now? I like the Family Guy's take on this classic opening. You reallize that All in the Family was a parody of the right like Bunker right? It was laughing at them and pointing to their flaws and foibles.
Voted : folks who drove La Salle's
you left out the line in the song, "gee, our old LaSalle ran great"

Noblese_Oblige I'm not saying things aren't better now, been over 80 years, I would hope so, but no Social Security even at that time, I dont know what the government did during the Hoover days as far as helping it's poor citizens. you left out the line in the song, "gee, our old LaSalle ran great" by contragrain on Sun Aug 26, 07 12:27am I know, I wish I had left that in there
I wasn't taking the words in the song as a fact , I was mocking it and how ignorant the character of Archie Bunker was, which I think or I would hope most people know..
Yes, what I meant was, they're just wheeling down the highway, not a care in the world, oblivious to the facts around them, or not concerning themselves with them.
