My grandad used to roll his own cigarettes. I don't know if the old man ever smoked a joint in his life; and, I never had the nerve to ask him. I've never operated one of the machines. Grandad offerred to teach me how once, though, when I was young (about 8 or 9). My mom, who was in the next room overheard the offer, and intervened with some comment like, "You do, and it's the LAST thing you'll teach ANYBODY." lol. I never did learn how to operate one of those machines. And, until recently, I didn't know they even still made them. However, I work with Public Transportation now, and in the course of my duties, I have not only seen them; but, I've seen indigents rolling TOP and Bugler tobaccos, among other more obscure brands. To be truthful, the 8 year old inside of me wants to go up to one of these scruffy dudes, and propose to him/her, "hey, I'll buy you a pack of Marlboros if you teach me how to use that thing;" but, the 44 year old man wins out, and I walk away. I really don't need to know that, do I? Sure you do! It would be culturally enlightening. Hurray for the more sensible side of you, Contra!
