WEIRD TALES BEST OR WORST: BEST SCI-FI OR HORROR TV ANTHOLOGY SHOW

Yes, I love those old (and some newer) television science fiction and horror anthology programs. I've been watching them since I was a small boy, and I wish there were more of them on these days. To clarify what I mean by an "anthology show," these are the ones where every episode is a stand-alone short story, more or less, rather than featuring continuing characters, as with "Star Trek" or the "X-Files" or the like.

So, two challenges, for those of you who like the same:

(a) List all the shows you can, British, Canadian, or U.S. in origin; and

(b) vote for your favorite one.

I'd be very curious to see the complete list and which one wins.

The Twilight Zone
The Outer Limits
Hammer House of Horror
One Step Beyond
Boris Karloff's Thriller
Tales from the Crypt
Way Out
Thriller (British version)
Lights Out
All the above, and other similar

Voted : The Twilight Zone
The old and the new. I've seen reruns of the old TZ and the new ones seem to be just as good. IMO.

Voted : Boris Karloff's Thriller
Never seen the British version of Thriller or the TV version of Lights Out, but I like all the rest (I have heard the radio version of Lights Out). Boris Karloff's Thriller is my favorite though. Also Tales From the Darkside, Monsters, Roald Dahl's Tales of the Unexpexted, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and the Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Night Gallery and Kraft Suspense Theater (and probably a few more that have temporarily slipped my mind). I never saw Way Out until just a few months ago (I'd heard of it and found a dvd). It might have been the best if it has lasted longer.

Although I like all of the shows, I've always preferred the black and white shows. Black and white just seems to add to the atmosphere somehow (especially with the original Outer Limits - really great black and white photography on that show).

^^Tales of the Unexpected and "had lasted longer" (that's what happens when you type fast).

Voted : Boris Karloff's Thriller
I wish the corporate idiots over at Universal would release the Karloff version of "Thriller" on DVD. There must be a million crappy bootlegs out there on DVD of the set, but apparently this tells the marketing geniuses at Universal nothing.

I say this, because virtually all of the other shows we mentioned are out on DVD in some format, save BK's "Thriller," and, at its best, it's at least as good as "The Twilight Zone" or "The Outer Limits."

"Pigeons from Hell," now *there's* some seriously scary business (one of the best of the BKT series). I almost had a coronary watching that one as a small boy, and about the only other shows that did that to me were "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" or "It's a Good Life" on "The Twilight Zone"
