He left the spoon where it was and disappeared. I thought to myself, “This is typical.” A few minutes later, he came back and picked up the spoon. I thought, "This is a conscientious man”. Then I realized I had berated the GROUP for something negative but when I saw I was wrong, I complimented the INDIVIDUAL, not the group. I was shocked by the realization that I was guilty of racist thinking. My thinking had been unfair. Have you ever caught yourself in a “racial moment”? It caused me to have a paradigm shift.
