COMMENTS:
In my opinion, unless he was actually "soliciting", meaning offering to pay for sex, I really don't see what the big deal is. If they can get him for what he did, I should be able to file charges on every guy that flirts with me. I imagine that the arresting officer didn't know who Craig was at the time and thought he'd nab some 'regular guy' who's name doesn't hold any weight anywhere and no one would believe him (not that Craig's name holds any weight anymore). People are arrested by crooked cops all the time on nothing more than suspicion. And alot of the time, the arresting officer does so knowing that the perp will either plead guilty out of not being able to afford expensive legal battles, or be sent up just because of any past reputation. To the cop, it's just another 'notch on his gun' and bragging rights for having nabbed a criminal.
Larry Craig admitted that this was not the first time he visited this known pick up spot for undercover gay men restroom. He had been observed on numerous occasions by undercover cops visiting that very restroom. I believe he was there to pick up someone and he got caught. I think he is disgusting not because he is GAY, however because he went to a restroom looking for sex with a stranger. I listened to the recording between him and the arresting officer from start to finish and Craig did not fair well, he even pulled out his Senator badge and asked the arresting officer what did the arresting officer thought about it. IMO Craig has several options: Come clean about his sexuality, or resign, or don't resign or continue to fight the charges, or go away never to darken that restroom front door ever again... BTW: I believe the evidence speaks for itself and Craig doens't help his cause everytime he opens that sore underneath his nose, his attorney should lock those lips up before Craig digs a bigger hole for himself.
Voted : don't resign
He seems pretty adamant that he is innocent and you're right in that there really is no evidence, other than what the Cop said happened. It could have been a big misunderstanding. This is a tough call, but given that the Police really didn't do a great job, I think he should be given the benefit of the doubt this one last time.
Voted : resign
He's acting too wonky for me to buy his story. IMO, no matter *how* much duress you may be under, you *don't* admit to something you didn't do.
I swear! He's not gay. Really! What's everybody looking at?
He convicted himself when he plead guilty. He is the ONLY person responsible for his plight.
no, he needs to toss some salad
