CONSPIRACY THEORY, OR TRUE?

I know some people are going to lash out on this, but hear me out. I've heard, from what would be considered very reliable sources, that Bush and people of his mind-set, loathe social programs. They view Social Security, Welfare and Medicare as major drains on the nation and actually feel they are Socialist programs that should be wiped out.

One solid theory that has been discussed is actually based upon "alleged" conversations in which Bush and a tight-knit group of Republicans planned for means to do away with those programs.

Obviously, they cannot just end them, so they need a way to logically allow their termination under the pretense of it is for "the greater good of the nation" (e.g. an absolute necessary).

What better way than to abandon a strong dollar policy in actions, while giving a strong dollar policy only lip service. Think about it. If those programs go away, any "trouble" that is ALLOWED to develop, simply goes away too.

Before anyone attacks me :) All I am saying is that this is what I heard and an analogy used was Austerity measures that are used on all fronts of government, from local to national levels and the example is based on a simple principle: in a School district, when faced with too many demands on a budget, they allow austerity measures to be implemented, which means that all non-essential programs are cut. Once they have them all wiped off the agenda, they are given free reign to re-develop the budget and ineveitably, only those they want make it back on.

Could it be true? I mean logically, aren't you wondering why Bush plays his Fiddle while Rome burns?

If it's not the above, then the prevailing wisdom is that quite simply, the Bush administration has gained controlled of the international currency trading aparatus and is systematically driving up the values of other currencies...to that currency and nations long-term detriment. Either way.........

Yes, I have heard this and believe it to be true
No, I have never heard this and doubt it to be true

Bush only has one year to go, and there are still checks and balances, and any attempt to scrap Social Security would be political suicide.

Political suicide of course. Hence the reasoning behind being able to make it appear as a "necesity." And I think we all know what's become of our Check and Balances.

Hey! I'm not being played by Bush! To answer your question though.. yes they want to do away with these programs. That was the crux of Bush's social security proposals. Basically get them out of government and use the money to fund corporations and other businesses. I just don't think that they would do it in the way suggested in the ballot description - unless they want a bunch of rioting blue-haired grandmas.

Political suicide, true. But we're talking about an administration that has already lied to its constituents in order to prosecute an illegal war, authorized the suspension of rights for enemy combatants and is pushing for serious and deep infringements on the rights of its citizens. They're already over the edge. What would they stand to lose?

I admit this ballot was a bit tounge in cheek. :) While I have heard that "rumor," of course it's ridiculous. Though Fiddlefaddle is right that they do want to do away with these programs, I made the ballot with some degree of humor.

The last part of the ballot description about currency manipulation is more true and speaks to the war of wills and words between China and the USA (and the West) when it comes to the control that China exerts on it's own currency to keep it artificially low.
