DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS SENTIMENT: "AMERICA IS FOR EUROPEANS"

A guy I know has said this many times. He is of the belief that The United States should only allow people from Europe to move here if they wish. He's also said "We need to stop letting so many foreigners come here."

The irony is that he is a first generation American because his parents are from Hungary and he and his siblings are the first in their family to be born in the USA. People have challenged him on this and his response is basically "we're letting too many people from Africa, Latin American and the Middle East come here."

Basically, he believes that if the person is from Europe, we should let them move here any time they want to. Do Europeans agree with this? Do Americans?

From the old legal standpoint of race-based-on-parenthood, I'm Welsh, but the rest of me is mostly Black, with a little Native American tossed in. By this rationale, most of me never gets into the place. That means I'm a big, bloody, sloppy mess pecking away at a keyboard.

How are you European Truthseeker? I meant "European" in the sense of people who live in Europe now. Sorry I wasn't clear on that. So unless you were born in Europe, you are being classified as "American."

By all means America should have tight border controls in today’s day and age, but to restrict migrants because of their ethnic background or nationality is extreme. Logically however, Europeans would tend to bring with them more capital than their African and South American counterparts.

No, the US is a melting pot. If anything Europe should be more open-minded, copy the US and develop its own melting pot.

But in regard to the melting pot, it is true that European culture is more compatible with the American Creed than some other cultures.

I think you're both right Eurotopia and Winston. It's just kind of funny in an ironic sort of way that he feels we let too many people in, and here he is, the son of immigrants, who wants to keep "certain" people out. :)

Its amazing that people are this stupid. My ancestors have been here for thousands of years and if anyone should go back to Europe it is people like this guy. Maybe what we should do is stop letting so many stupid people come here. If we had done this before, maybe this guy's family would not have been allowed to move here.

Its the melting pot effect that made America great. It certainly wasn't ignorant attitudes like this guy has.
