Voted : Dangerous pseudoscience by someone without legitimate credentials in AIDS research
The overwhelming evidence and scientific consensus is that HIV causes AIDS. A small assortment of mostly fringe characters tries to claim otherwise. With only a couple of exceptions, the HIV as the cause of AIDS deniers have no expertise in the field or greatly exaggerate their credentials. Charles Geshekter, is an ECONOMIST and AFRICA SPECIALIST in the HISTORY department at California State University. He is not a doctor, a scientist, a geneticist, an epidemiologist, a microbiologist or a scientist of any other stripe related to medicine. Geshekter bases his theory on anecdotal claims of statistic problems or irregularities. His "theory" is not based on hard science, peer reviewed research or any solid MEDICAL evidence. Meanwhile, 99% of the experts with legitimate credentials in AIDS research, treatment, epidemiology and related fields completely and utterly disagree with him. Their reasons? Mountains and mountains of scientific evidence which is based on solid research, peer reviewed studies and easily reproduced studies and tests.

Pay particular note to the Durban Declaration which strongly refutes the deniers and their claims. It has been signed by over 5,000 people, including Nobel prizewinners, directors of leading research institutions, scientific academies and medical societies, notably the US National Academy of Sciences, the US Institute of Medicine, Max Planck institutes, the European Molecular Biology Organization, the Pasteur Institute in Paris, the Royal Society of London, the AIDS Society of India and the National Institute of Virology in South Africa. In addition, thousands of individual scientists and doctors have signed, including many from the countries bearing the greatest burden of the epidemic. Signatories are of MD, PhD level or equivalent.
I can provide anyone who desires this info links by the thousands to studies published all over the world by a multitude of public health agencies on the issue of what causes AIDS.
Its always amazing that characters like Geshekter get attention for a fringe claim. Unfortunately, there are people who believe his claims and do not the scientifically sound precautions to avoid it. In my opinion, the blood of those who die because of listening to fools like Geshekter is on HIS hands. As the Durban Declaration states:
"HIV causes AIDS. It is unfortunate that a few vocal people continue to deny the evidence. This position will cost countless lives."

PS: I'll also be happy to provide you with a list (yes, there are quite a few) of AIDS/HIV deniers who have died from the disease. Often, in part because they believed their own bullsh*t.
