(Disregarding the LOTR Trilogy,) Kill Bill is way up there, due to the unique manner in which it is able to maintain effective drama while at the same time blatantly exploiting cinematic trends. Other films have of the Millenium decade are technically "better" -- but better only goes so far if it is conventional. Genuine originality (that works) is exciting.

Sorry, failed to mention the significance of 29 February. THat was the date of the Oscars broadcast, when "The Return of the King" went 11 for 11. It was a good day to wear a pocket protector...

For me none of those. For me its Layer Cake. Great film. Gritty , violent and realistic.

Brokeback Mountain, Shrek 2 not 1 but Shrek 2, Crash, Gladiator and Star Wars Revenge of the Sith actually are probably 5 of the best made movies ever - - - in history - Gone With The Wind - a few others.
