DOES IT BOTHER YOU WHEN PEOPLE ACT DECEITFUL?

lets say you have a minor disagreement with an acquaintance -- it's just a minor exchange of words and is really no big deal, as there was no rage or "yelling" or anything remotely close to it being heated.

what do you do or think if that acquaintance then goes behind your back and tries to drum up sympathy for themselves by going to others and is pretty much being less than honest about the disagreement, just to sway opinion and garner sympathy.

this friend did this, but he made a mistake because the "disagreement" had all been in e-mail, so there was a written record of it. once he realized that it could be proven that he was being less than honest, he backed off.

what do you do in these cases -- do you ignore that person, set the record straight or just assume people will know if they are exxagerating just to get sympathy?

larry made a similar ballot yesterday and it got me to thinking that i know people who do this and wonder if you do too.

ignore the person, as was mutually agreed to anyway
set the record straight
stay as far away as possible
depends on your priority

Try to set the record straight, but be prepared to forget the deceit/deceiver.

It is really childish to try to gain support/sympathy for his side.

I have seen what you are talking about. Adults should not behave this way, but some do.

These people are psychotic, stay far, far away. I've had an experience with one such person fairly recently. You can't argue with these people, they're so in love with their own convictions and wouldn't dare let them go.

Actually I've had several such experiences in the past couple months. This thing seems to be happening a lot to a lot of people recently. Something in the atmosphere?

i don't know nuck. seems to be. he's actually not such a bad guy but we just don't gel so avoiding each other seems to be the best route. but like b_l said, set the record straight and be prepared to just forget about that person.
