[+] serious ballot by EUROTOPIA
ACTIVE Sat Dec 01, 07 - Sun Nov 30, 08

Should any references to that book be forbidden? That is, should any user who cites it, even with the intention of condemning it be banned from this site?

Yes, of course
No, Socrates didn't deserve to be banned
Yes, Innocent eyes shouldn't have to see something like that
Das ist ein interessante Buch, nicht wahr?

It's called freedom of expression. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with generally citing something in order to point out something about it to condemn it for that.

What happened to herzog was disgusting too. But that is a completely whole other issue too.

Hi, Socrates.

Voted : No

The next book banned could be the bible or quran, et c.

(I, too, miss one of the best debaters, ever.)
by Black_Lava on Sat Dec 01, 07 12:53pm [+]

What happenned to Herzog?
Did his parents make him get a job?
by elvislennon on Sat Dec 01, 07 1:38pm [+]

Of course not. As much as 'we' may not like something. Freedom of speech is part of what makes us different than other places in the world.
by UncleRandy on Sat Dec 01, 07 2:41pm [+]

elvis- What happened to herzog was that he was banned for pointing out the source of someone's quiz ballots was racist, anti-semetic and therefore unreliable. I don't see how someone can be banned for mentioning a source that someone else mentioned first in order to prove that it is unreliable.

Socrates subsequently was banned when citing Mein Kampf with the intention of showing that 'the rule' that LCD used to ban herzog is a slippery slope.

But of course, I'm sure the fact that LCD didn't like their personal opinions was purely coincidental, right?

skylab- Some have called me "one of the original users" of this site, because I've been a user for that long. I have been a user on this site much longer than 'Socrates'.

"Yes, Innocent eyes shouldn't have to see something like that"

- It's a historical document. Don't be childish.
by EUROTOPIA on Sun Dec 02, 07 12:05am [+]

LoL, does that mean I should sue my history professor? He made us read that book.

The fact of the matter is, you stupid morons, go get a life, it is an historical document. Gosh, how stupid are you people? Have you never studied history at all? Get an education, please.
by EUROTOPIA on Sun Dec 02, 07 9:43pm [+]

And it's also amusing how "Yes, Innocent eyes shouldn't have to see something like that", went from only having 1 vote for such a long period of time to having so many in such a short period of time. Hmmm... I think someone is vote spamming again. And that someone should go find out about a thing called 'history' and how sources are important to understanding history.
by EUROTOPIA on Sun Dec 02, 07 9:46pm [+]

Voted : No
I think by prohibiting people from reading or purchasing the book you create a taboo about it that would arouse the curiosity of the young and the stupid.

By banning it you are admitting that it still has power in its pages.

It's like some young kid walking up to a teacher and asking him "What is Mein Kampf sir?"

If the teacher responds like this:
"Well kid its a book by an evil genius from the past and you can never read it" then a false mystical illusion is created that could compel the curious child to investigate further in secret.

If the teacher responds: "It's a book written by a nutter from the past - you'll cover it in history later this year, why, would you like to read it?" - there is no illusion or secrets being kept from the child - and the kid would more than likely respond "Uggh history - fuck that, I’m off to play footy with my buddies."

I suppose the point I am trying to make is that by having the book out in the open you destroy any false appeal some delusional person may have about the content of Mein Kampf.

By the way, to those voting "yes", I just wanted to give you a polite "fuck you". You stink like shit and cum because you lick out your own cum from LCD's ass right after ass fucking the freak. Have a nice day, cunt/s. You have my permission to fuck off.
by EUROTOPIA on Mon Dec 03, 07 8:52am [+]

absolutely not! it's an historical document. history is not always pretty but if you're going to teach true history than it all has to be discussed. banning someone for even mentioning it on this site is a total bullshit cop-out.

by Kev24 on Mon Dec 03, 07 10:13am [+]

I love how 'the very many' yes voters have left no comments. The cunt is probably too scared, despite the fact that he is behind a computer monitor regardless. What a fucking pussy. It's fucking unbelievable.
by EUROTOPIA on Mon Dec 03, 07 10:58am [+]

i'd actually like to read it. i have a list on which i put any quotation with which i agree, no matter who said it. and i'm interested in seeing if there's anything that he said that is agreeable.
