I'm of the opinion that God created man and man invented religion.
Something corresponding to 'God' gradually developed Man,
And,
Man invented many versions of a God, none of which are particularly 'accurate'.

great way of wording it winston- thanks. yeah, i agree, god created man and man invented religion.
I would be more inclined to agree with Outers. However, this gradual development I must assume is in reference to evolution, in which case your choosing to correspond that with 'God' could just as easily be corresponded with 'Mariah Carey' or some other random power. I won't say much more on this subject as it is essentially a veiled version of 'Do you believe in God?'

"God" created man, and man (some of them anyway) is still trying to deny everything that seems a little too complex to be "pure" chance. Beliefs or specified religions are man's way of explaining the unknown...

Man created all the gods throughout history except for "my god".
I had an experience like that too, Britvic. But the god that came into my room smelled like bourbon and cigarettes. That's when I realized that it was my crazy Uncle Eddy.

Actually, it was a bit of both. 'The Intelligence Factor in Nature (not a 'God', exactly) developed or 'evolved' Man on planet Earth. Imaginative Man then eventually created the Gods, and The God. That Which Is Evidentally Beyond Human Comprehension Is What IT Is, far greater than any of the human Gods or God..

God obviously created man first...nobody would even have any idea what the word GOD meant or even know what religion was and it doesn't make sense to pull something out of thin air...plus we know there is good and evil, wrong and right etc.

We mutually invented each other! So which came first, the man or the god (gods)? Nature rather 'intelligently' assembled various life forms including man, man creatively concocted gods to 'explain' everything, Nature put together terrarium Earth, man modified Earth to suit himself, and there we are! Man evolves, GOD evolves too, a reasonable relationship!

Man is a real thing. Where did he come from? His origins exist in the mists of Time. Created by Nature, created by The Gods. A thing of wonder, a wonderful thing. Man has had many thousands of years in which to imagine and create Gods, a very many of Them. Man creates The Gods, and The Gods create Man. Universe without end, amen.
