He agrees with the report and says that the 16 independent intelligence agencies came to the same conclusions as did the IAEA - that Iran poses no imminent threat regarding WMDs. However, he postulates that it doesn't matter what the facts are, as the Bush administration is bent on an ideological policy of regional transformation in the Middle East to mesh with American interests, independent of the realities on the ground. The administration will create any argument to justify its objective, he says, usually centred around the "terror" motif. It worked well in the lead up to war in Iraq.
