I do have all the entries in the database but have to get a script rewritten to recalculate it to work.

so in the meanwhile, we will have to live without karma.

It`s a silly system. If your going to run a popularity show do it as a votable thing. candidates and such. A table for your good votes. and a table for your bad. rather than the random algorhythm (however u spell it) you`ve constructed mate. Be a lot easier to spot the bad user and nice and simple enough to add things too.

a monthly permanenet ballot based on votes for good choices or bad. topped of by a vote for the most popular user that month. which ofc would add to their "good" rating. so recalculation from karma would be easy. direct weight for weight. then adapt the system from there.

i think the more people feel they directly understand the ratings will change the emphasis on how they communicate :D

Karma is nice because it allows you to let someone know you appreciate their ballot or comment, but some people place far too much value on it.

Maybe make it so that you can only get and receive 5 karma rewards in one day? I don't know. I never really looked at the total value anyway. It's a great system for 99% of the people on here and a means of attack for maybe 1%.

No rush to fix it in my opinion, since I think everything is just fine without the calculation part. :)
