If we're talking about food (fresh veggies, chicken, eggs, fruit, fish, etc..), then yep. No problem. And I don't have to worry about it being tainted with lord knows what.

As for non-food products, I can make quite a few things cheaper than what I can buy there. But I honestly probably wouldn't sell it cheaper because of that one distinction between my stuff and Walmarts... quality. Quality costs. Even if it doesn't cost much to make, it's worth the money spent to buy it.

are you kidding?

mojo, you are an artist. You have a virtual monopoly on your product, and walmart cannot buy your product until you choose to do so.

by definition, you CAN compete with Walmart, on any product you create, unless there's another mojo out there painting the same picture!

Hell, that's what I say. If we put our minds to it, we can make so much for ourselves without having to buy it's plasticized equivalent from some department store.

There's not a shelf in my house that me or my hubby didn't make ourselves. Same with end tables, the coffee table, over half the picture frames, the bed frame, cabinets, etc.. For outdoor things, I make my own birdhouses and feeders. My own picnic tables. Or buy them from someone who does. Even the boots I'm wearing were made by my husband about 10 years ago when he learned the trade. They're just now getting to the point where they need new soles. I've yet to find a pair of Wallyworld shoes that last that long with the walking, working, and hiking that I do. That's why I said I would charge more than Walmart. You get what you pay for.

It sounds hard, and it does take a little skill. But it's really not hard to do once you learn how. And it doesn't look like crap either. I'm not talking a piece of plywood sitting ontop of cinderblocks for a coffee table. lol It's nice stuff. Stuff that you'd walk into a rustic furniture store and see the same thing with a 300 dollar price tag on it. And all these old women with their 'Southwest deco' fetishes are gobbeling it up.
