The place where I work shows spam that has been quarantined, where total strangers love me and want to send me money. I read it for laughs.

For me, it's been getting better. Back in the Stone Age, when fiber-optic cables were the size of redwood trunks, I had to give up two Hotmail accounts because I was gettign nothing but spam, four to five hundred a day, and my actual mail was being dumped as extraneous.
The most spam I get in any of my accounts is from yahu- uh, Yahoo (mustn't anger the Internet Deity), and that is, at worst, 25 a day. And most of that is actually valid stuff that's been shunted the wrong way.

I believe so in many cases. Spam to my hotmail account has decreased dramatically, but it's increased with my Gmail account. Luckily it all goes straight to my junk folder. I've heard it getting much worse with others people though.

I use Yahoo Mail, and at one time I used to get 50-60+ spams a day, mostly phishing scams and bank fraudsters.
Now I get around 5-10 spams a day.
I never open, or reply to any spam. Maybe this explains the decrease...maybe not.
