WHY IS VIOLENCE FUNNY?

Why do we laugh when we see people injured or injure themselves in stupid ways? Think seriously - even if you don't think you are "that kind of person", you most likely laugh when you see a guy double over after running his naughty bits into a fire hydrant by accident...

Because we are base animals
Because we are glad it wasn't us
It sounds like laughter, but it's really a nervous reaction to sympathetic pain
I don't know
I know, but I'm ashamed to admit it
Only fake violence is funny
It's funny if the pain's not permanent
It's not funny
Only when it happens to someone who derves it

Can't say I ever saw the humor. Somebody getting shot in the nuts by a fire hydrant is funny because it's SEXUAL, and I find sexual humor hilarious.

It's like slapstick comedy, which I never cared for , some of my friends love the Three Stooges, I never got the humor of someone hitting people in heads with hammers or twisting their nose with pliers.

Other than some fictional violence, I really don't find any of it funny. Maybe with the exception of people who should know better getting themselves in certain situations.

That's why I hate that America's Funniest Videos show. Occasionaly there's some dumbass on there who's ignorance is hard not to laugh at. But as for the kids falling and landing in positions that they're lucky didn't paralyze them or the elderly people falling down while some half brained idiot keeps filming instead of dropping the camera and helping... I find nothing funny about that.
