We eat too much. Period. As a nation, it is killing us. "All you can eat" is a concept that needs to go. I don't think the waitress should have charged them double; neither should they have stuffed themselves like hogs. Deep-six the all you can eat buffet and the problem is solved. I wonder why the offshore worker was disabled. Could it have been his weight problem, coupled with type 2 diabetes?

^ I agree, I go to a Chinese Buffet a lot because I love the food and the price is reasonable, but I don't eat to the point of not being able to walk. I'm sure they make money off of me. This country needs to do something, many people are so unhealthy and in too many cases, they only have themselves to blame.

I don't think it's fair. If you put up a sign saying "all you cna eat", you have to suffer the consequences. I have been banned for life from a couple of restaurants in Jersey for "eating too much", in the opinion of mamagement.
I don't eat nearly as much now as I used to, mind you. Back in my day, I was my father's son, and he could put it away, Deity rest him.

Buffets can be dangerous to your health.

I agree with Larry and Mojo. Everything is so overly-sized that it's disgusting. But, in NYC, for example, they have banned all Trans Fats, so at least something seems to be happening in the right direction.
Truthseeker also makes a good point. If it is "All you can eat," then the restaurant has to deal with it.
The waitress is either a disgruntled worker or a complete idiot. That's the risk restaurants take when they open buffets. If they think their customers are eating too much, they should discontinue the buffet, not ridicule their customers. That only makes them look bad.

They should install a really narrow door to keep greedy fat bastards out.

I don't overly stuff myself, but I eat till I'm full. That's what I pay for when I go to an all-you-can-eat buffet. If such places have a problem with people eating too much, that's the establishment's problem. They shouldn't have an all-you-can-eat buffet if they don't want people taking advantage of it.
"I wonder why the offshore worker was disabled. Could it have been his weight problem, coupled with type 2 diabetes?" by mojo One never knows. I know people who've been disabled by work related accidents and then balloon up due to inactivity or depression because they're not able to work anymore.
Wow, I've been in pain for a long time (from a work-related activity), and it's contributed to my depression -- does that mean I could qualify for government disability? hmmmm

I think it is wrong to harras these people. I bet there are skinny people who probaly eat lots more but who are left alone. I have a funny feeling it is this guys disability that triggered the response, because 235 pounds on a 6'3" man does not look fat. My boyfriend is 6'1" and weighs 260 and he looks sleek to me.
"Wow, I've been in pain for a long time (from a work-related activity), and it's contributed to my depression -- does that mean I could qualify for government disability? hmmmm" by mojo I didn't say he was on disability because he was depressed. But possibly depressed and unable to be active because he's disabled and unable to work. It's the depression and the inactivity that can cause some to gain weight. "..235 pounds on a 6'3" man does not look fat. My boyfriend is 6'1" and weighs 260 and he looks sleek to me." by forgetmenot Well, he was 265, not 235. But yeah, I see where you're comming from. My hubby is 6'1" and 230. and he hasnt got an ounce of fat on him. 265 on a 6'3" man is technically overweight, but generally not considered obese. I know a few people of that stature and they definitely wouldnt be what I would call "fat".

If it's all you can eat, they can't kick people out for eating all they can. If you have that type of business you have to realize that there are going to be people who can put down a whole lotta food.

^ I agree , if it says all you can eat, don't complain when someone does just that. But like mojo said, "All you can eat" is a concept that needs to go. IMO

Nasty. Seriously, they deserved it.
