what is the least amount of money you would consider earning (first year) to work for yourself?

positives: no boss, chances for infinite advancement.

negatives: hard work, no paid vacations, must pay for your own medical/dental, chance for catastrophic failures.

I'm CRAZY!!!!

Of course this is where saving's come into play.

Of course if I really had 50k (before taxes) I could invest plus goto a few game tournaments and make more lol.

I could pull it off on 50K a year. I've got remarkably low overhead.

I wouldn't go lower than this unless I was reasonably sure my income would grow in the future...benefits out of pocket is a tremendous amount that must be taken into account also...

My benefits for my family are worth about 20K, so it'll have to be at least over 70K.

It's way better to work for yourself if the finances are at all feasible. Bosses tend to be egotistical idiots, and if you're doing great work for them, instead of being pleased, they get jealous and try to undermine you. Who needs 'em?
