I started my clinical in pediatrics this week and was introduced to many of the kids parents.

Most shook my hand, but one mother gave me a hug and a kiss, not a passionate kiss, but a peck on my lips.

Do you do think such things are appropriate /what would you have done and do you like strangers kissing you ?

I guess it all depends. Some stranger on the street, no. But in the case you describe, it sounds like she is probably just a very maternal type of loving person. That wouldn't bother me so much. Just be glad her Husband didn't kiss you!
