Voted : Feral pig
I've come across several poisonous snakes and just left them alone. The only one's I've killed have been in my immediate yard. If I didn't have a child or pets that play in that same yard, I'd have left them alone too. I've came across feral pigs also. One I encountered while walking one morning. The other two I came across while working out on my creek. The one I saw while walking I shot because it was more than likely the same one that has been killing my chickens and the neighbor's kids (young goats). The ones on the creek I had to shoot because they started gnashing their teeth as soon as they saw me. When they gnash their teeth, it's a sign of agression and it means they're about to charge you, so I couldn't take any chances. Even if they weren't gnashing their teeth, I'd have probably shot them anyway. They're an introduced species that cause millions in damage to property, livestock, and the ecosystem here every year. The game warden recommends they be killed when encountered. I've came across wolves and coyotes but I wouldn't consider them deadly. They'll normally shy away from people unless they're sick. Saw a cougar about a mile away from home not too long ago, but I was in my car at the time and he had just crossed the road in front of me. They usually don't bother people either, unless they're hungry. lol
Holy cow! Where do you live? Are Feral Pigs like regular Pigs, but wild, or are they like those Wild Bores? It sounds like you live in a pretty wild area. It would be very cool to see a Wolf of Cougar in the wild.
Voted : Mountain Lion
When we were camping in the mountains in eastern Arizona, a hungry mountain lion was stalking our campsite when he smelled the steaks cooking. He did that yell/scream thing they do and I froze with fear. The first thing I did was to put my 5 year old daughter in the car, and then you should've seen how fast we broke camp and got the hell outta there!
Voted : Poisonous Snake
Watch me be all jive and say 'humans.' God I'm so cool and edgy. I've come across a timber rattlesnake once and several black widows when i lived in cali as well a massive wolf spider in indy. Feral pigs are usually descendants of escaped domestic pigs. They look pretty much like boars though and they're pretty badass.
Nates' right, patch. Some of them the Spanish brought over when they settled here. Most of them though are descended from various types of domestic breeds. Years ago, poor farmers would sometimes let their pigs run wild in the winter so they could forage for food instead of having to be fed. Sometimes they were allowed to run wild year round due to the inavailability of good fencing. Either way, they were rounded up for the yearly slaughter, and of course not all would be able to be rounded up due to wander or unchecked breeding. Seeing how they can have up to three litters a year containing up to a dozen piglets each, it's easy to see how they become well established in an area. And once they do, they lose their domestic look and gain the bristly hair and the tusks that are normally clipped off of young domestic pigs. And they are highly aggressive. There was a woman attacked on a hiking trail near Dallas and a man killed a couple of counties over from me by a feral pig a couple of years ago. It's not the coyotes, cougars, or wolves that people worry about here, it's the wild pigs. Oh, and I live in a very rural wooded area of East Texas not far from the nearest river and swamps, so we get to see wild critters pretty often. Even saw a wolf just a couple of months ago right in my backyard. The "experts" have said there are no more wolves here, but they don't spend as much time in the woods as the people who live, farm, and hunt here. I was happy to see the one I did. It was a beautiful animal! There's been black bears spotted here too, but I've never seen one myself. RWS, I'd have done the same thing! They're the next largest big cat under a tiger I believe, and can run much faster and jump much farther. I was outside late one evening smoking when I heard one scream from about a hundred yards away. I went inside. Quick. lol They're beautiful animals, but I don't want to meet up with one in the woods.
Voted : Shark
Yikes... don't remind me.
Voted : Golden eagle
The last house my family lived in was in the mountains. I went outside one day and found myself face to face with an enormous golden eagle sitting on our fence. It could have torn my face off with those talons. I chose to remain still and just watch until it flew away. Regardless of the peril, I knew I would never see something so breathtaking again. The force of air from its wings when it flew away almost knocked me off my feet.
Voted : Coyote
This happened to my uncle and cousins. My uncle took my two cousins to a dog pound to get a stray dog for a pet. They brought the dog home. The dog was extremely timid and docile. Several years later, out of the blue, it jumped over a 6 foot fence like it wasn't even there and bit someone on the other side. The dog was quarantined but did not have rabies. They asked the vet why it had acted so badly. The vet said, "Well, it's not a dog." They'd adopted a coyote.

Their BO is deadly
That's crazy, Forgetmenot, about adopting the coyote from the pound. LOL Cool story about the eagle too. That's what happens alot in rural areas. There's not enough contact with man in some places for the animals to be afraid of us.
Voted : Hornet
It was massive.
Voted : Grey reef shark
I was on a drift-dive along a reef in the Red Sea when a grey reef shark swam past in the opposite direction, about 15 feet away from me. It looked at me & then just swam on... didn't show any interest in ripping me to bits. Which was nice.
Voted : Alligator
When I went on vacation at MouseEast back in '03, I went outside my villa one night to dump the night's trash before turning in. As I was returning, I saw that the lake my villa was on had a view of MouseEast itself, so I paused for a look. After a minute or so, I heard this hissing sound to my left. I turned, saw a twelve-foot gator staring right at me, jaws open. I stood stock-still for several minutes until he decided he'd had enough of terrifying me and darted off into the lake. I spent the next two hours washing my clothes. Fecal stains come out very easily, surprisingly...
These are great. Thanks! I have this need, well some might say this unhealthy obsession, with wanting to be around the most dangerous animials, like poisonous Snakes, Sharks, Bears, the whole bit.
Voted : Bear
a black bear, but it ran away, probably from the smell of me almost shitting myself
