I'd say there's a few on that list for me, but Spike has to be my favourite. He was a major influence on the British comedy of today. A hilarious mad genius.

"I told you I was ill," Spike Milligan (1918-2002)

John Peel gave a lot of bands their first big break, more than anyone else did in the UK. The music scene would have been a lot different without him, probably will be even now. So, for me, he comes a close second.

Just thought of him after I left for my Nightly Geek Tour. He wrote the "Wheel of Time" fantasy series and a few other bits and pieces. The former managed to revise and revamp the genre in ways it was sorely needing (placing women in positions as more than damsels-in-distress or Women in Refrigerators. Google that latter, and don't blame me. I'm just part of the board on occasion).
