OBAMA : HOW WILL IT CHANGE WHAT OTHER COUNTRIES THINK OF US?

[+] serious ballot by LCD
ACTIVE Tue Feb 12, 08 - Wed Feb 11, 09

some of you don't give a flying ham what other countries think of us, that's fine, this ballot is not for you.

given that you have an iota of concern for what other countries think of USA, what would having a person of color, who grew up with multicultural background, who studied islam AND christanity, do for the image of united states in the court of public opinion in the world?

I am babbling. I am happy that obama is sweeping the election :)

finally put to rest that we are not a bunch of racists.
A start...

COMMENTS:
it might change a few opinions of what people in other countries think of Americans, but actions of Obama will determine what they think of our government. IMO

I agree with Larry that it will really depend on his actions and how he performs if elected. But on a broader level, hopefully it will change it for the better. Since we're a very ethnically diverse country, our government should reflect that. It does in the Congress, Senate and local levels, but having an "ethnic" President will be the ultimate achievement at that highest level of power.

He seems like a very good person, so I'm hoping if he gets elected, his ability to build consensus will help us in international relations.

We should elect the best person for the job. That much being said, a bonus to electing Obama would be as a symbol that how you're born is less important than talent. I think Obama does have talent and intelligence as a politician.
