Voted : Depends
jobs are being lost but many times when I only have a few items I use the self check out, it's faster, usually not long lines. But when I have many items, I prefer someone doing it for me, the self service stations don't have enough room for a lot of items and I end up having groceries falling all over the place.
Oops, hit the wrong button on this consarned computer. I meant, I prefer a human cashier at the grocery store. Otherwise, I try to shop online.

Voted : I prefer a human cashier
I don't go shopping to go do someone else's job for free. If they don't have an available human cashier, then I'll take my business elsewhere.
^what if they wanted you to put self service in DSG'S?
Voted : I like to check myself out
Or shop online. I'm not much of a people person.
^^ Not going to happen, Larry. Loss Prevention would never let that happen. The Horseheads store (opening iin October) is getting a new queue-style checkout though.
^lol, I was name dropping few weeks ago, it was on the local news about Dick's moving and I got to say I knew the person who designed the store's layout, everyone was all impressed.

I try not to use the self check-outs. My local grocery store just took out all but two of the regular cashier check-outs and installed all self check-out lanes. They jacked up the prices, I have to scan my own groceries and then bag them myself. No thanks.
I always seem to get stuck behind someone learning how to use the self checkout.
Voted : I prefer a human cashier
That way, I stand a better chance of getting discounts by flashing my baby browns at the clerk...
Voted : I prefer to shop online
although when I have to go to a store I prefer a cashier to serve me.
Voted : Union People Always Use A Cashier
Since I'm a Union Man I always use a human cashier. They're installing the machines to eliminate jobs. And after they eliminate all the cashiers do you you think the price of your groceries in gonna be any lower. HELL NO! The money they save by getting rid of all the cashiers will go right in the store owner's pockets as PROFIT! Those union jobs that can't be shipped overseas are being replaced by machines. It's a REPUBLICAN AGENDA to put as many BLUE COLLAR UNION American Citizens out of work as possible. It's called Union Busting and it's done for one purpose. PROFITS AND GREED.
