I can't answer that, even to my own satisfaction. IMO, the entire tax structure is hopelessly frelled up, and needs to be disassembled and put back together properly, eliminating all of the frilly deductions that people like to throw in.

we should pay VAT like any normal people (outside US) and abolish IRS.
