HAVE YOU EVER EXPERIENCED AN ASIAN TEA CEREMONY?

One of my closest friends is from Japan and his family has what are thought of as Tea ceremonies. I think they pretty much do it daily. Anyway, it's very cool.

The way he explained it to me is that the Tea ceremony is much more than just "drking Tea." It's actually a spiritual and artistic expression. Usually it is in a special room and the various parts of the tea ceremony are symbolic, such as the various cups, the hot water, the types of tea pots, etc. When they have a tea ceremony, it is meant to be an event that moves them, mind and body, into a special place where the tea is not really the focus, but the whole ceremony and the various stages are.

The one he invited some of his friends to at his home was very cool. A bit nerve wracking because it was new to us, but the whole atmosphere was almost serene.

Have you ever experienced an Asian Tea Ceremony?

Yes I have and it was great

doesn't that take hours and hours?

Never had the patience, but it would be interesting, how was the tea?

This one laste about a little over an hour. I'm not sure if they're typically longers. I did learn that milk and surgar are not part of the ceremony :) I have no idea what kind of tea it was, but it tasted okay. It was pretty elaborate overall, but it was a serene feeling because his Mom moved sort of slow and there was no rushing or any sense of being rushed and I think that's part of the ceremony. I think overall, many of the cultural rituals in Asian culture are very civlized because they make a point of being calm and almost Zen like.

It sounds almost meditative and an enjoyable way to learn and express control over stress. What a great excercise it would be for A personality types.
