I think aesthetic appreciation is a luxury of very, very few animals of extraordinary intelligence. I would guess most animals are entirely consumed by the need to hunt, gather, care for young, and find mates. Those few animals who are without predators and are with very large brains may derive some kind of pleasure from pretty things. Chimps and elephants come to mind.

Frankly, I've never thought about this from an animal standpoint. I've only had two pets, a cat and a goldfish, and I never bothered to observe for such behavior with either.

I took my cat to the beach once. she sat on the dashboard and looked out to the ocean, and stared at it for a long time. I think she appreciated the view.

They don't see colors the same way we do. Many of them do better with hearing and smell than with stereoscopic color vision.
