They can get emergency room care and refuse to pay, but that's about it. Same as everyone else. No preventive medicine that way, though.

^Or use your real name, but only at the ER. No family practice doctor would waive the fee up front.
What skylab said. Even then it's still not absolutely free.
Being illegal, and often with fake social security cars or IDs, it's just hard to track them down and make them pay.
If their income is low and they meet certain criteria, they could try and qualify for medicade like any other citizen here, but I'm not sure on any changes made to that system. After helping someone out in filling out application for assistance forms not too long ago, I've noticed that there are now more questions pertaining to being an illegal alien.
It is not free. (No joke.)
skylab: Just go to ER. Any complaint from stroke to sniffles, will be treated. Donot waste time at the doctor's office.

I think maybe there is a great deal of bad information out there on this issue. Here are some quotes from the article:
Illegal immigrants can get emergency care through Medicaid, the federal-state program for the poor and people with disabilities. But they can't get non-emergency care unless they pay. They are ineligible for most other public benefits.
One thing is clear: Undocumented immigrants are driving up the number of people without health insurance. The Pew Hispanic Center estimates that 59% of the nation's illegal immigrants are uninsured, compared with 25% of legal immigrants and 14% of U.S. citizens. Illegal immigrants represent about 15% of the nation's 47 million uninsured people — and about 30% of the increase since 1980.

But clinics aren't the only places where illegal immigrants can get healthcare. Hospitals are obligated to provide emergency services. Federal law requires state Medicaid programs to cover such services for illegal immigrants who would otherwise qualify for the program.
In addition, some illegal immigrants are covered by federal payments that compensate hospitals for inpatient care provided to the uninsured.
And some of the undocumented in California and several other states can receive limited services, such as prenatal care, nursing facility care and some breast and cervical cancer treatment, from publicly funded programs.
So it appears that they are entitled to and do receive free medical services to some extent.

IT IS TRUE! Their kids get FREE EDUCATIONS TOO at taxpayer expense.
FEDERAL LAW requires all hospitals to treat ANY ILLEGAL that comes to their door for treatment. But the Feds DO NOT reimburse the hospital for the cost of treatment. It comes out of the hospital's budget.
In Arizona and Texas, many border hospitals has gone bankrupt and closed because of the cost of treating illegal immigrannts
FEDERAL LAW also requires all school districts to allow the children of illegal immigrants to attend public school free of charge. YOU THE TAXPAYER pay for their education.
States that have allowed Illegal Immigrants to have Drivers Licenses have found that they using the Drivers License to register to vote! To register to vote the only ID required is a Drivers License. Since the license doesn't say if you are legal or illegal, they can register to vote.
It is estimated that in the next Presidential Election that 2 percent of the votes will be made by Illegal Immigrants.
ALSO: The IRS NOW provides illegal immigrants with a TAX ID NUMBER so they can get a mortgage loan to buy a house. YET THEY PAY NO INCOME TAXES!
ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Read it in the Wall Street Journal. If you didn't pay your taxes would the IRS do the same for you, a citizen? Hell no, they'd throw you in jail.
The U.S. Government treats them better than YOU, a citizen.
I say get rid of all of them, as fast as possible. AMERICA IS FOR AMERICANS!
Oh Yeah, and here's another one.
Earlier this year Bank Of America announced it would offer Credit Cards with a credit limit of $500.00 to illegal immigrants. Yet these people have NO CREDIT HISTORY!
Does Bank of America do this for U.S. Citizens. Noooooooo. Too much risk involved they would say.
Anyway, they dropped the idea after they got a ton of complaints from American cardholders and card cancellations.
