Should? Yes. Is this possible? No.
One thing I do know is that if FDR had been sent to the front lines in WW 2, he would have served far more capably and bravely than George W. Bush. He at least would have had the balls to lead the soldiers by example instead of having daddy keep him out of the war.

It worked fine in WWI and WWII.
There is just too much money to be made by perpetuating a war these days. Ask anybody at Raytheon, Boeing, Bechhtel, Halliburton, Blackwater, etc.
At least one part of our economy is doing well.
