EATING X NUMBER OF MEALS A DAY : IS THAT REALLY HEALTHY?

[+] serious ballot by LCD

it goes against nature.

we are taught/programmed into eating 3 meals a day, 4 counting snacks etc. whatever that number is in your culture, is that really normal?

Do you think our ancestors, for millions of years, while forraging and scavenging for food, got to eat nicely portioned meals every 4 hours?

Wouldn't they have eaten food when it was available, followed by long periods of starvation?

if so, wouldn't having a regular meals at intervals actually be bad for you?

Personally I have tried to find a neolithic diet for myself, and have unscheduled eating times (just eat when hungry, not because it's time) and it seems to be working out for me (done it for about a month)

comment please.

people should eat regular meals
people should eat less frequently, and varying portion sizes

COMMENTS:
Interesting question, and I've heard different opinions.

I've heard it is best to stagger a lot of small meals through the day so you're pretty much always digesting something and your metabolism is always in gear.

I've actually never heard of this neolitic meal style of yours, but it sounds a bit too animalian. It's been thousands of years since we have relied on hunting and gathering. I don't think it's relevant to consider the assumed customs of our cavemen relatives.

I think the norm these days is actually more of the "eat when you can" schedule. We live by the clock. For example, I usually eat a mid-morning brunch, an early evening dinner, and a late night meal with snacks here and there. That's just what works for me and what is convenient with my schedule.

I don't do mealtime. I just eat all day long. Like here's what I have done so far today which I woke up today at 10:37 ET. Had five slices of pizza, Two Cadbury Eggs, some crackers(not people) with peanut butter, half a loaf of Garlic bread, and three bowls of Cocoa Puffs. Also about half of a two liter of Pepsi. I just grab and eat stuff all day long.

Voted : people should eat regular meals
I have heard that FIVE or SIX meals (in smaller portions of course) is better for you than just eating THREE. I have not tried that. Maybe I should. I have heard it also called the 'Grazing Method'

We don't. Years ago I watched a documentary about lions and how they only eat when they're hungry. Have you ever seen a fat lion?

We don't have a set meal time as such, we eat when we're hungry and we're all healthy and the right weight.
