WHAT ABOUT POSITIVE NEWS? [+] serious ballot by LCD ACTIVE Tue Mar 11, 08 - Wed Mar 11, 09 have you seen the news coverage? murders, rapes, scandals - and sometimes worse. I am in the hotel room right now, watching ABC. there is special called "what would you do?" people are sent on a "interview" for a tv show, about bible parable about jesus helping a person in need. while they are walking to the interview, they pass by a guy crying on the street. they said 80% of the people stopped to help. interesting point about the study is that people in a hurry (those that were told to hurry to appointment) stopped only 35% of the time. even then, fraction of the people stopping to help a person in need is really heartwarming. I must confess, I have been in a situation where I really needed help, and there have been people who stepped up to help me. and seeing that really brought it back for me, and I was embarassed to admit I got misty-eyed. the question is, given that the tv is full of negativity, (full of crime shows and horror story passing as news) does that make the society more negative? and if so, by presenting more positive news and stories, can that alter the world, and make this planet a little bit more tolerable?
