I just watched an interview with an American/ constitutional historian on BBC concerning the right to bear arms.

One of his arguments FOR was the Virginia Tech shootings, his answer to that, "if everyone on campus had guns the shooter would think twice about attacking."

Another example FOR , Darfur and other nations where one group is killing another , "If everyone had a gun, they could defend themselves."

So what do you say, if all people on Earth used the old west as their model , would we have a safer world?

Once again, The Myth of the Gun...

A lot of cemeteries are filled with people who believed that they could be Dirty Harry. Takes more than point-and-shoot lessons and a permit to provide an adequate defense. Trust the guy who has had the former in his time.

So, whoever has the bigger gun rules, then. Faster, bigger, more devastating. My hunting rifle isn't going to go very far against sub machine guns... I should upgrade... and why listen to "law and order", when I take care of myself with my own arsenal and private army...

Yee ha! If everyone in the world had nuclear weapons then we would have no war! What we would have is a lot more dead people which is exactly what would happen in this dumb ass historian's scenario.

Insane people and criminals shouldn't have guns. Neither should suicidal people. And those who live in safe areas should weigh the risk of gun accidents against a need to self defence. Forgot to log in the first time.
