Did get a warning that I might need to do so a few years back, when one of the really big storms went through the Florida Panhandle like a hot knife through butter. The storm became little more than torrential rain by the time it hit Atlanta.

Yes. Last time was during hurricane Rita a couple of years ago. We usually don't get a big impact from them where I live, but I had one of those gut feelings and went to stay with my parents. Glad I did because many of the roads in my area were closed due to fallen trees and power lines, and stayed that way for about two weeks, disabling people from getting out if need be. I could have easily toughed it out, but with a child, I didn't care for playing Mrs. Survivalist.
