hey republicans, how does it feel to be responsible for electing someone who's looking after israel's interest rather than the interest of the citizens of USA?

cnn:
Vice President Dick Cheney arrived Saturday night in Israel, where he pledged America's "enduring and unshakable" commitment to the security of the Jewish state as it approaches its 60th anniversary.

Vice President Dick Cheney, left, and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert reaffirmed their alliance Saturday.

Cheney met with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to kick off a weekend of talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.

"Our two countries have been more than just strong allies. We've been friends, special friends," Cheney said at a news conference with Olmert.

"Both our nations share the ideals of liberty, equality, human dignity and representative government."

"Both our nations have stood firm against forces of terror and intimidation. ... We are natural allies," Cheney added.

He reaffirmed that the United States was committed to Israel's "right to defend itself against terrorism and rocket attacks and other threats from forces dedicated to Israel's destruction."

In turn, Olmert called Cheney "a very good supporter and friend of the state of Israel." Video Watch Cheney discuss the U.S.-Israel relationship »

The Israeli prime minister said the two leaders would discuss Iran and peace negotiations with the Palestinians as well as Syria and Hezbollah.

"We will always be happy to hear your advice and your observations about these very important issues, which are on the top of the agenda of the state of Israel," Olmert told Cheney.

Cheney, who spent the past two days in Saudi Arabia, planned to attend an Easter service Sunday in Jerusalem before heading to Ramallah in the West Bank for talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

hey in the words of anti immigrant ranters:

if you like israel so much why don't you go there (and stay there!)

I simply donot understand ....

Hava Nagila? No thanks, I just had one.

In what way LCD? A little country of 6 million people somehow controls the US? Come on.....

I don't like Cheney one bit but even the almighty Obama has said nearly identical things:
"a clear and strong commitment to the security of Israel: our strongest ally in the region and its only established democracy. That will always be my starting point"

"Those who have worked with me in Chicago in the state Legislature and now in the United States Senate will testify that I have not just talked the talk, I have walked the walk when it comes to Israel's security. I think it is fundamental. I think it is something that is in the interests of the United States because of our special relationship, because Israel has not only established a democracy in the region but has been a stalwart ally of ours,"

My, my... I guess our savior Obama has been bending over too. rolleyes Or perhaps he is a bit more educated on the issue and sees the situation more realistically than you do...

While I seldom agree with Dick, he did say that Palestinian statehood is long overdue, which is is.

or maybe I am speaking my mind since I am not running for public office and don't want to me assassinated by the Mossad.

We send our children to die to protect Israel. that's a fact.

Israel has been spying on US, we caught them in the act, that's a fact.

Israel plies our officials with $$, lobbyists, etc. that's a fact.

if any other country tried that, they would be bombed by us. that's why they control us. well, at least the sheeps among us.

And those who aligns themselves with a foreign nation against the interest of ours, how do they compare with illegal aliens, hmmm?
by LCD on Sun Mar 23, 08 2:57pm [+]

and remember, Israeli lobbyists are shaking in their boots, because Obama didn't take their money.

uh oh... how are they gonna control Obama? Bribing him won't work... okay, let's try badmouthing him - Let's see if our gullible slaves in America will buy into that one....

hopefully, people will wake up, and see what's going on. if they don't, then they deserved to be lead to slaughter.

LCD, you have got to be kidding.

"or maybe I am speaking my mind since I am not running for public office and don't want to me assassinated by the Mossad."

Are you serious? You think an American politician who speaks out against Israel would be assassinated by the Mossad? There are plenty of politicians and others who do and not a single one has been assassinated. Therefore, this statement of yours is basically BS and has no basis in reality. Sorry.

"We send our children to die to protect Israel. that's a fact."

We do? How many soldiers do we have in Israel that have died defending it? Oh, I am sure you will say Iraq is about Israel but it is not. Additionally, the vast majority of Jews and Israelis have opposed the war in Iraq since it started. They believe(d) correctly that it would not make Israel more secure but would actually make that area of the world more dangerous and far less stable and secure. Basically, there are no facts supporting your contention. The war is about a couple of things. OIL. America's desire to have friendly countries controlling the Persian Gulf area so that the flow or oil will not be slowed or interrupted. BTW, plenty more Americans have died (in reality) protecting the UK, countries in Europe and America's allies around the world. I don't see you complaining one bit about that.

"Israel has been spying on US, we caught them in the act, that's a fact."

Sure. And we spy on them. China spies on the US. France and other "allies" have also spied on the US as well. What's the big deal. It happens all the time. Its wrong no matter who does it, right?

"Israel plies our officials with $$, lobbyists, etc. that's a fact."

Israel? Or supporters of Israel in the US. Supporters of Israel have PACs. Of course. As do supporters of China, UK, and many others. What's the big deal? Its a free country. Israel is also an ally of the US and the only truly stable democracy and friend of the US in that area of the world. There's nothing wrong with people supporting that idea. BTW, we have mutual support treaties with numerous countries such as NATO and others. We don't with Israel. Why aren't you complaining about our entanglements with those countries?

"if any other country tried that, they would be bombed by us. that's why they control us. well, at least the sheeps among us."

Oh come on. Israel controls us? Or is it the Jews? I'm sorry but this idea that a minuscule country controls the world's only true superpower is patently ridiculous. BTW, why haven't we bombed China, Saudi Arabia and other countries that do basically the same thing you accuse the Israel of doing. Saudi Arabia influences the US greatly but we nothing in common with that country at all. It isn't a democracy. There are no cultural commonalities. They treat women like 2nd class humans. Minorities such as homosexuals are executed. There's no freedom whatsoever. All this and we kiss up to them and hold their leaders hands because of the oil.

"Israeli lobbyists are shaking in their boots, because Obama didn't take their money."

That is patently FALSE. BTW, Barack Obama has spoken at the AIPAC conference. He has numerous Jews on his campaign staff. He is very pro-Israel. He has wide support in the Jewish community. I don't see anyone shaking in their boots.

You are projecting your own beliefs onto Barack Obama. His votes in congress, his actions and his statements and positions on Israel are ALL very PRO-ISRAEL. As much as Hillary Clinton or John McCain.

rolleyes Oy vey, I do agree that that house of Saud is just as guilty of greasing our "elected" leaders.

Why is it that whenever Bush or Cheney go to the middle east, I am reminded of that meeting of the five crime familes from the Godfather? 017
