But I will never stop complaining about the elite scumbuckets that control the so-called first world. Even those in poverty would be better off without these parasites.

Welcome back! I was thinking about you last week.
And I've seen the same stuff myself.

When I go to the store and buy some ice cream I know I do not need without a thought to its expense, or something equally as frivolous, like makeup or jewelry, I often think that what I so painlessly spent could have supported a family in India for a year. When I am unhappy about my dinky little apartment, I imagine that one of these families would consider where I am living to be a mansion.

and I agree, it's a terrible thing what some people have to live through, but I'm not going to stop complaining about the poverty that I see in the western world , (which I don't believe you are asking us to do) , but even though it's not the the degree you speak of, a hungry child in Chicago is not going to feel, at least I don't live in Darfur or India. We could probably give any situation and someone someplace is worse off. Poverty and hunger in the world needs to be the top priority of every government on the planet.
^ but me personally, you are right, I know I have it made in the shade compared to many people.

. We are so privileged to live in America. Just think: clean, safe running water and electricity 24 hours each and every day; air conditioning and heating of our homes and autos; jobs; food !!; not being required to show ID to visit other states; clean and safe motels; so many restaurants of so many cuisines; emergency care when we are injured; firefighters; police officers. How about Or: complete religious, social and political fredoms. Kev24: This is the best ballot to grace this site, but there will still be too much bitching and whining about lesser important things.
And, we are free of bombs or militias who rape, machine-gun to death and pillage our towns. It happens every day, but not in America.
^just because something may be worse in other parts of the world does not mean everything is peachy keen here, far from it. Also a high percentage of the bombs exploding around the globe are made in the USA. YEAH, I'm really proud and feel privileged for that.
hey-ho. no political or ideological intentions on my part. simple ballot saying we should all be grateful for what we have. lets not make this about life in the grand ole' united states. i'm talking about social issues and if you can feed yourself count your blessings. fact is the western world could do a hell of a lot more to help the poor of this world like using money for butter and not guns.
^I probably should have made another ballot on my concerns kev, I do understand what you are saying , whenever I see pictures of hungry people in 3rd world countries it makes me so sad.
^ and thankful that I do not live there
larrynelmira, I do agree with you in part. It is so painful to read of people who donot even have clean water. A starving child with flies on her eyes makes me cry, as it does you. But, so many people who do live in America, which I love dearly, fail to see their bounty. I am not blind, but noone lives in Utopia. It is okay to be grateful for the good things we have.
