I saw some speculation on cable news (either CNN or MSNBC) that perhaps She was positioning herself for that position...I know she has said on numerous occasions she is not the type to run for office, but being the Veep is not the same as "running," it would be up to McCain to pick her, maybe to peel off some of Clinton's "lady supporters" (iffy) or Obama's Afro-American supporters (maybe) or just to counterbalance the ticket of a possible Obama/Clinton (combination, take your pick who heads it) ticket...

It's not that she is a female extension of GW, but she does represent significant ties with his presidency, and if McCain wants a shot at winning, he needs to distance himself as much as possible.
