HOW OFTEN DO YOU EXPERIENCE THE PERFECT QUIETNESS?

HOW OFTEN DO YOU EXPERIENCE THE PERFECT QUIETNESS?

living in the city, I never realized how quiet it can be.

even at home, you hear the constant drone of the tv, radio, groans from appliances, buzzing from the overhead powerlines.

I am talking about the deafening silence, out in the wild, miles from the civilization.

when was the last time you experienced such wonder?

It doesn't happen everytime. It did a few days ago, but now it's just now and then. Although it's just happened about 4 times in a row.

This morning before everyone woke up. With the exception of the crickets and the occasional coyote howling. And my cats meowing to go outside.

I'd say I'm experiencing it right now, but I've got a fan turned on 4 feet from where I'm sitting.

soothsayer, there's not a lot of crickets out in the desert :)

It's been a while. I used to experience it a lot growing up in a rural area.

Wish I could afford to move back to the countryside again but lifestyle property is so expensive in my area.

And yes that total quietness is the only way stressed people like myself can truly relax and feel at peace.

We drove up to the mountains where my Dad and Step mom used to live. All we ever heard there was a distant car on the moutanin highway about every fifteen minutes--chipmunks dropping pine cone BOMBS on the rooftop every morning--and the drone of the old mail plane, which at night,on the way home, my Dad would signal by turning his car lights on and off, and the mail plane would signal back. That's quiet. That ended, tho, when Dad became a fireman and then all we heard was the paramedic radio on 24/7. But who can comnplain about that?

Only when I go to Ruidoso. Don't like it. I need lots of noise.
