Despite his last batch of activities (his presidency of the NRA), I always admired him as a great actor. And he was also a tireless campaigner in the early civil rights movement, appearing with Dr King several times.
He did utter the classic lines from Planet of the Apes "Take your stinking paws off of me you damn dirty ape!" and from Soylent Green "Soylent Green is people!"

Plus, he was an advocate for racial equality. And, a believer of Second Amendment rights.

Sure. I mean he had a family and all, so they're probably sad. Why wouldn't people be sad? He was just an actor.

Me, too. I liked him. I liked his great voice, too. In a televised interview, he told the world he had this condition, like Alzheimers. Shows you he was not ashamed of what it did to him. Very, very cool. He was as manly about it as he portrayed in his movies.

Agree or disagree with his beliefs, I always admired the way he stuck to his guns. (pun intended)
