I've had a few as pets in my slightly younger days. They don't smell much depending on what you use for cage bedding. They do have a unique smell themselves, but I wouldn't describe it as good or bad and don't really know what I could compare it to... Affectionate? Uhhhh, no. Bite? They can, but shouldn't if you handle them properly. Any that you would buy in the US as pets wouldn't be dangerous if they did bite you anyways. Webs? If you have a tarantula, you absolutely must give it something to make a burrow in. I used halved and upturned planting pots. Mine never made much in terms of webs. They just laid down some mats of it in front of their little lairs and filled the walls inside with webbing. Nice pets? They're fun to watch feed. Other than that, it's not like you can play with them or anything. They're a nice showpiece though. Note- DO NOT put them in an open, shadeless container in a sunny area when you are cleaning their cages. My sister did this to one of mine and it got cooked in the sun and croaked very quickly.

Last time I heard they can range from what they eat to the smell of earth. Most are nice little buggers lol.

I don't know, I've never had one as a pet. We've got them wild here though and they get in the house sometimes, looking for a place to get out of the heat in the Summer.

If you freeze them you can use them as ninja stars. Or distintive cup holders? little tarantula hand bag with tie up legs?
