Are you more likely to be happy if you are more or less intelligent. If you are bright, do you have more insights, if you are less bright, do you not worry as much...

Or does it not matter...

The smarter, the happier
The dumber, the happier
It doesn't matter
Intelligence, opportunity, satisfaction, good fortune

many people who were infinitely wiser/smarter than me were utterly miserable.

This is a great question. I think that people who are reasonable in their views and who take the approach that the glass is half full, rather than half-empty, tend to be happier. I've really been thinking about this very issue a great deal lately. It seems that so many people are unhappy. I think that often, it's because they focus on the negative, rather than putting things into perspective and focusing on the positive and on ways to expand on or enhance the positive.

I have had people say that if you're fortunate and have little worry about life's necessities, career, home, material things, etc., that you're bound to be happier. That's is really a cop out on their part. Happiness is a state of being and in reality, the poorest of the poor can be the happiest people in life, while the wealthiest can be the most miserable. This is a great ballot!

It doesn't make a toss of difference There are many reasons why you could be unhappy with yourself that intelligence could polarize to decide on an answer. But for every overcritical person theres one riddled with doubt. Which is the smart one?

I get a kick out of running rings around people. but there are those who cant handle what they know.

Not sure what relative wealth has to do with intellect tho patch. i think you digressed dear :D

Oh, I took the choice "Intelligence, opportunity, satisfaction, good fortune" in the sense that people assume that those with money are naturally more happy. I guess now that I think about it, that's maybe not what that choice was about. :)

Being happy does not mean having inner joy. Being happy simply means you are pleased the way that something "happened".

But I think less intelligent people tend to me more cheerful and mopre oblivious to complex problems.

If you're dumb, you can let other people worry. About you.

The smarter you are, the more aware you are of how fucked-up everything is.

Also, smart people tend to be much harder on themselves. They constantly strive to be better, and are seldom satisfied with what they have accomplished.
