COMMENTS:
Is it fair to say that it is in the very sudden death and violent incidents that there seems to be a link to more hauntings afterward?

Voted : Sherwood Forest ~ Nottinghamshire, England
I love the sound of this one. It's o Gothic and Harry Potter-y.

I can't think of the name of it or the story behind it, but there's a place in the woods within a few hours drive of me that is a Caddo Indian graveyard. Legends says that it's haunted and actual apparitions have been witnessed in one particular spot.

There's Caddo graveyards literally all over the place where I live, scattered out in the woods. But I don't know of any stories or legends tied to them.

Seems to be much of the time. A lot of battle sites are reported to be haunted. Some think it's the result of the number of people, the strong emotions at the time, and/or the manner in which they were killed.

Voted : Peak District - Derbyshire England
I dont actually beleive in ghosts but theres nothing spookier than walking through woods at night. So for me most haunted would mean most creepy.

That would probably be the peak district in Derbyshire England.

The area hasnt changed much since the black plague with most of the villages remaining pretty much intact and inhabited. So even before you go near the forest you get the feeling your already in the middle ages. The forest is extreemly hilly with spooky little valleys and the trees grow in wierd shapes due to the ever shifting position of the sun around the hills.

Sherwood forest is Robin Hoods alledged stomping ground. Whenst a robbing from the evil sherrif of nottingham. I never really understood how he got the suffix sherrif. I'm pretty certain that wasn't a common title in England at the time. must look into that.

Hogwarts is apparently situated in Scotland but I dont know if thats where they filmed it.
