On the one hand you have all those people to buy and sell good and services , on the other hand you have all those people to worry about, jobs, health care so on and so forth

So do countries like China, India, USA and the others with large populations, have an advantage or disadvantage?

If you have a great educational system and you are not overly exploiting them, you can one day "rule" the world. people are the greatest resource. (assuming you have a land mass to support the population.)

A large population can be great in that you have a larger workforce, a larger tax base, and a larger military. But it starts to become counter-productive when you have too many.

Like skylab said, you'll start to run out of resources past a certain point.
